Do Now (Voice Level 0) 5 minutes:
On your objective tracker, dissect the objectives you will be working to complete for today. Be prepared to explain the objectives in your own words if I call on you.
Whole Group (Voice Level 0) 5 minutes:
Socratic Seminar Prep - you have five minutes to get all of your materials together and get ready to participate in our seminar today. Both "stations" will be whole group today.
Whole Group Collaborative (Voice Level 1-1.5) 40 minutes:
Follow Socratic Seminar Protocol at all tables/desks. The students in "collaborative station" will be discussing first. After 20 minutes we will switch roles and the "independent station" students will move to the tables.
Collaborative (Voice Level .5) 20 minutes:
Task 1: Create a Word Wall for Unit 6: Westward Expansion. The vocabulary terms are available here.
Here is the template and a rubric for the Word Wall.
Task 2: Watch this video on Westward Expansion and take notes because we will have a quiz on Tuesday based on it. You'll be able to use those notes on the quiz. I am not going to tell anyone in class about this, so if you're reading this you'll probably be the only one who is going to get an A. Don't you feel special?
Early Finishers: Watch this video about the Oregon Trail or read an article on NewsELA.
