11/16 Wednesday

Guiding Question:
Who can we ask for help with issues that face our community?

Objective:
Students will be able to guide and support their peers by peer-editing so that they are able to revise their letters to their representatives and score at least a 3/4 on the rubric.

Standards:
W.8.5 - With some guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, and/or rewriting.

HSS.8.3 - Students will understand the ways in which citizens participate in the American political system.

Do Now (Voice Level 0) 2 minutes:
Write today's objective in your own words. What is the activity you will be completing?

Whole Group  (Voice Level 1-2) 40 minutes:

Task 1: What makes a good letter?

Task 2: You will be peer-editing letters in your table groups using the checklist provided. You need to provide meaningful feedback to your peers! If you have not completed a rough draft of your letter yet, you will use your class time to complete that. Take a copy of the checklist to make sure that you are doing everything you need to do and also read ONE peer edited letter from your table in the last five minutes of the station.

Exit Ticket (Voice Level 0) 5 minutes:
Reflect on your objective. Were you able to meet the objective for today, yes or no and why?

Homework:
Final drafts of your letters are due Thursday/Friday AND your two actions for the PBL are also due Thursday/Friday!! You need to have them completed by the time you walk in the door so that you are able to work on your Google Slides presentations.
