Guiding Question:
Who killed Reconstruction, North or South? 


Objectives:
Collaborative: Students will determine why Reconstruction failed by analyzing primary and secondary sources and writing two CEREAL paragraphs with a score of at least 3/4 according to the rubric. 

Independent: Students will investigate the lasting effects of Reconstruction's failure by reading, watching videos, and answering guiding questions with at least 80% accuracy. 



Standards:
8.11.1 - List the original aims of Reconstruction and describe its effects on the political and social structures of different regions. 
R.1 - Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly
ELD B.6 - Read closely to determine how meaning is made

Do Now (Voice Level 0) 5 minutes: 
- On your objective tracker, dissect the objectives you will be working to complete for today. Be prepared to explain the objectives in your own words if I call on you. 

Whole Group (Voice Level 0) 15 minutes: 
The failures of Reconstruction

Independent (Voice Level 0) 45 minutes:
Task 1: The Lasting Effects of Reconstruction's Failure webquest in Google Classroom 

Early Finisher? Any late/makeup work, your 8th grade portfolios, etc are all due Friday, May 26th! 

- If you are done with everything you can watch this or this. 

At the end of this station, complete the "next steps" portion for that station's objective. If you met the objective, write "none" in that box. 

Collaborative (Voice Level .5 - 1) 45 minutes: 
Task 1: Read through the DBQ packet together, annotate
Task 2: Complete a Say-Mean-Matter row for each document. 
Task 3: Write one CEREAL paragraph claiming the North killed Reconstruction and one CEREAL paragraph claiming the South killed Reconstruction. 


At the end of this station, complete the "next steps" portion for that station's objective. If you met the objective, write "none" in that box.
