Guiding Questions:
What reasons did the colonists have for wanting independence from England?

Objectives:
Collaborative: Students will analyze the Stamp and Quartering Acts by reading, annotating sources, and answering questions with at least 80% accuracy. 

Independent: Students will work to increase their lexiles by reading an article about the French & Indian war, summarizing, and completing the activity with a score of at least 75% 


Standards:
CA HSS.8.1 - Understand the major events preceding the founding of the nation. 

RH.6-8.22 - Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source

RH.6-8.4 - Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text

WHST.6-8.9 - Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis and reflection

ELD B.6 - Reading closely literary and informational texts and viewing multimedia to determine how meaning is conveyed.


Do Now (Voice Level 0) 5 minutes:

Intro to Unit 2: Revolution 

Independent (Voice Level 0) 40 minutes: 

Task 1: Achieve3000, "Happy Birthday, Yankee Doodle" You need to complete all 5 tabs for this article. 

- You only need to summarize paragraphs that are more than two sentences! You may write your summaries as bullet points for my class. 

- Your thought question answer only needs to be 3-4 sentences. 

- Achieve articles are summative grades. You cannot get higher than an NP if you did not summarize. Yes you need to summarize the Dig Deeper section! In order to complete a "makeup Achieve" you need to also complete all 5 tabs and the summaries on your makeup article as well. 

Task 2: Unit 2 Word Wall. Here is a list of the vocabulary terms and here is a template/rubric for your Word Wall. You can complete your Word Wall digitally and share it with me (ecobb@laalliance.org) or you may complete it on a piece of paper. 

Collaborative (Voice Level .5 - 1) 40 minutes: 
We will be annotating primary and secondary source documents and answering questions together on the Stamp and Quartering Acts. 



Exit Ticket (Voice Level 0) 5 minutes: 
Objective self-reflection form. Reflect on your mastery of the objectives for today. Were you able to meet them, why or why not? 

Homework:
