Guiding Questions:
Why were Federalists and Anti-Federalists in conflict with one another? 

Objectives:
Collaborative: Students will understand the debate between Federalists and Anti-Federalists during the creation of the constitution by reading and participating in a "Save the Last Word for Me" with a score of at least 3/4 according to the rubric. 

Independent: Students will understand the three branches of government by playing an icivics game with at least 80% accuracy. 


Standards:
HSS.8.2.3 -Evaluate the major debates that occurred during the development of the Constitution and their ultimate resolutions in such areas as shared power among institutions, divided state-federal power, slavery, the rights of individuals and states (later addressed by the addition of the Bill of Rights), and the status of American Indian nations under the commerce clause.
RH.6-8.4 – Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text
WHST.6-8.9 - Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research
ELD B.6 - Reading closely literary and informational texts and viewing multimedia to determine how meaning is conveyed.

Independent (Voice Level 0) 30 minutes: 

Are you "done"? You may complete an Achieve article, missing work, watch CNN10, or watch BrainPop videos on the US Government. 

Collaborative (Voice Level .5 - 1) 30 minutes: 
Task 2: Fill out the Save the Last Word for Me paper to match your claim. 
Task 3: Discussion. Wait for Ms. Cobb to model and put the discussion stems on the board before you begin. 
Task 4: Synthesize.

The history of Halloween, witches, voodoo, and more!
