Objectives:
Collaborative:  Students will brainstorm issues in their community and draft a complete action plan in their groups.

Independent: Students will research their representatives at the state and federal level and answer questions with at least 80% accuracy.


Standards:
8.3 - Students understand the foundation of the American political system and the ways in which citizens participate in it.
RH.6-8.2 - Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source

What are some issues in our community? 
Whole Group (Voice Level 0) 10 minutes: 
Civic Participation & Representation Notes
Independent (Voice Level 0) 45 minutes: 
Task 1: Who Represents Me? in Google Classroom
Task 2: Play one of these iCivics games: NewsFeed Defenders, or LawCraft

Early Finisher?: 
- Have you finished all your history work in Google Classroom? 
- Work on homework for another class
- Read a NewsELA, CNN, or Achieve article 
- Practice your typing 
- Read a book

Collaborative (Voice Level .5) 45 minutes:
PBL Work Time
Exit Ticket (Voice Level 0) 5 minutes:

Work on your PBL actions. You will only have one more class period to complete this & your presentation before we present on 11/8-9!

Guiding Question:   What debate existed over adopting the Constitution?  Objectives: Collaborative:  Students will understand the debates between Federalists and anti-Federalists by reading, answering questions, and writing a constructed response with at least 80% accuracy. Independent:  Students will understand federalism by reading and answering questions with at least 80% accuracy. Standards: 8.3.7 Describe the principles of federalism, dual sovereignty, separation of powers, checks and balances, the nature and purpose of majority rule, and the ways in which the American idea of constitutionalism preserves individual rights.
