3/27-28 Monday-Tuesday

Guiding Question:
How does slavery in our past compare to slavery around the world today?

Objectives:
Collaborative: Students will complete a PSA for their chosen form of modern slavery with a score of at least 3/4 according to the rubric.

Independent: Students will compare slavery in America's past to slavery around the world today by writing a rough draft of their research paper with a score of at least 3/4 according to the rubric.

Standards:
8.7.2 - Trace the origins and development of slavery; its effects on black Americans and on the region’s political, social, religious, economic, and cultural development; and identify the strategies that were tried to both overturn and preserve it (e.g., through the writings and historical documents on Nat Turner, Denmark Vesey).
CCRA.R.1 – Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.
ELD B.6 - Read closely to determine how meaning is made

Task 2: Check your rough draft against this rubric. Are you including everything you need to?

Task 3: Watch CNN Student News

Early Finisher? Watch this, play Free Rice, read an Achieve article, complete missing or late work, research slavery in the antebellum South.
