Guiding Question: 
What killed the settlers of Jamestown? 


Objectives: 
Collaborative: Students will be able to analyze the causes of the deaths of many early settlers in Jamestown by reading, annotating, and completing a Say-Mean-Matter chart with at least 80% accuracy. 

Standards: 
CA HSS 8.1 – Students understand the major events preceding the founding of the nation and relate their significant to the development of American constitutional democracy.

Take out your background essay for our pop quiz 

Collaborative (Voice Level .5 - 1) 30 minutes: 
Task 1:  Guided annotations of Doc A & B 
Task 2: Answer the guiding questions. Need sentence starters?  


Task 3: Say-Mean-Matter chart
