Guiding Question:
How can we build a community? 

Objectives:
Collaborative: Students will build a classroom community by participating in a community circle discussion groups. 


Do Now (Voice Level 0) 5 minutes: 
- Take out your signed syllabus for Ms. Cobb to check off.

Direct (Voice Level 0) 5 minutes: 
- Community circle protocol for both small group and whole-class 

Whole Group Collaborative (Voice Level 0) 20 minutes: 
- Starting in small groups, go around in your circles answering the following questions: 
- How many years have you been going to this school? 
- What are you looking forward to most in 8th grade?
- What was your favorite class activity or after school event you have done? 
- What is one rule that you think every class should have? 

Collaborative (Voice Level 0) 20 minutes:
After you have discussed with your small groups, we will be standing up and creating a big community circle for the whole class.  Remember only the student or teacher with the talking piece should be speaking. 
- What is one rule that you think every class should have?  
- What is one thing that you wish you could do more of within a history class?

Guiding Question:   What debate existed over adopting the Constitution?  Objectives: Collaborative:  Students will understand the debates between Federalists and anti-Federalists by reading, answering questions, and writing a constructed response with at least 80% accuracy. Independent:  Students will understand federalism by reading and answering questions with at least 80% accuracy.
