How did England react to rebellion in the colonies? 
How did England and the Colonies view each other? 


Objectives: 
Students will analyze the Intolerable Acts and early revolutionary political cartoons by working in groups to answer questions with at least 80% accuracy.

CA HSS.8.1 - Understand the major events preceding the founding of the nation 

RH.6-8.2 - Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source

WHST.6-8.9 - Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis and reflection

Do Now (Voice Level 0) 3 Minutes: 
On a half sheet of paper please write the objective for today in your own words. What are the activities you will be completing? How will you know that you are successful? 


Whole Group (Voice Level 0)  10 Minutes: 
Introduction to The Intolerable Acts 

Collaborative (Voice Level 1-2) 30 Minutes: 
As a group, you will be working to analyze these early Revolution political cartoons. You only need to submit one form per group but everyone needs to have the form open so that they can look at the cartoons and the questions. 

 Early finishers? Read an article from NewsELA independently or complete makeup work.

Exit Ticket (Voice Level .5 - 1) 5 minutes: 
Were you able to meet the objective for today? If yes, how do you know this? If no, what are you going to do to make sure you met the objective before our next class? 

Homework: 
None! This would be a great time to catch up on any make-up work for my class.
